MORNING BRIEFINGS
Has the BOJ loosened policy of its own volition, or
has it revealed susceptibility to government pressure?
Inflation
in the Eurozone is expected to edge lower in October when Eurostat releases its
CPI estimates. Meanwhile, in Canada the rate of growth is expected to
slow, and purchasing managers in the Chicago area are likely to report better
conditions.
After
yesterday's BOJ excitement Asia
settled back into customary range-trading. Japan’s PMI drifted to 46.9 from 48.0 the
previous month, marking the lowest point since April 2011 and the fifth month
below the 50 expansion/contraction threshold.

surprises pushed European stocks higher yesterday and the positive sentiment
has continued in Asia
overnight. We expect Norges Bank to push
interest rates higher by signaling a rate hike within the next six months. Market
movers today: Monetary policy meeting in Norges Bank, Euro area bank lending
survey, US Chicago PMI

Q3 Earnings: Beyond the Halfway Mark – Zacks
It has been
a fairly weak earnings season any way you look at it. And as we had suspected
all along, earnings estimates for the fourth quarter and beyond have started
coming down, though they still have room to go on the down side.
