Osakefutuurit negatiiviset, indikoiden laskuavausta osakemarkkinoille. Volatiliteetin negatiivinen korrelaatio osakkeisiin mahdollistaa suojauksen, mutta vaatii hyvää ajoitusta (muutoin tämä ”vakuutusmaksu” saattaa mennä hukkaan.

Recent comments from outgoing Japanese finance minister Jun Azumi have made it clear he remains willing to take decisive action to stem JPY strength should he see it as necessary. We therefore need to once again consider what tactics the Japanese authorities might employ.

Visions of the Political Future of Europe: Reviewing Draghi’s Opinion – Place du Luxembourg
This is the first in a series of posts about the future of Europe as envisaged by European leaders. It starts with the perspective offered by Mario Draghi, because it would appear to me that his was the first one expressed in the recent list of such views. According to the Monetary Policy supremo, we’ve got the tools we need.

SNB in a Pickle – Bruce Krasting
What is the largest single economic threat the globe faces today? The clear answer is the funding market in the EU…And the Swiss National Bank is adding to the problem. According to S&P, its actions are directly undermining the entire global financial system.

Why I Agonize About The Zero Bound – Tim Duy’s Fed Watch
2015 is too long to wait to emerge from the zero bound.  Policymakers need to make efforts to normalize the economic environment a priority.  That may require a level of fiscal and monetary cooperation that today seems to be unthinkable.  But if gets to the point where central banks are pulled kicking and screaming into such cooperation (the European Central Bank may be the first to explicitly monetize government spending; I suspect it will be the only way to keep Greece in the Euro and live up to Draghi's pledge that the Euro is permanent), then I think we will all wish we had engaged in such cooperation sooner than later.

ASIA
It’s the FDI, stupid – alphaville / FT
When commentators cast around for reasons to explain the strength of the Australian dollar in the face of falling iron ore and coal prices they all arrive at the same answer - haven bond buying by central banks/ sovereign wealth funds. In fact, we’ve also made that very point. But just how much of a factor is it?

Lithium: next frontier for resource nationalism? – beyondbrics / FT
Since 1998, the price per tonne for lithium has surged a whopping 238 per cent – and Chile has 40 per cent of the world’s reserves in the Salar de Atacama. Resource nationalism never sounded so lucrative.

Tie liittovaltioon on katettu harhaanjohtamisella ja oudoilla päätelmillä – tyhmyri
Euron puolustaminen on ilmeisesti kaiken negatiivisen makrodatan valossa muuttunut aika epätoivoisia keinoja edellyttäväksi.

Yhdessä näillä on keinot avata kriisimaille vaikka rajaton rahapiikki – ilman yhdenkään sopimuksen avaamista. Tämän on Suomenkin eduskunta hyväksynyt.

Hurja väite: Sveitsin keskuspankki rahoittaa puolet euroytimen alijäämistä – TalSa
Sveitsin keskuspankin mukaan luottoluokittaja Standard & Poor'sin tulkinta Sveitsin keskuspankin markkinaoperaatioiden vaikutuksista on perusteeton. Luottoluokitusyhtiön mukaan Sveitsin frangille asettama vaihtokurssilattia on johtanut ennätysalhaisiin korkoihin euroalueen ydinvaltioissa.

Lahjusepäily paljasti puutteita Helsingin rakennusviraston toiminnassa – YLE
